Costs Update Call us on 01494 616122
The Association of Costs Lawyers (ACL) has been granted leave to intervene in one of the most anticipated and talked about costs cases of recent times, Coventry v Lawrence, in which the Supreme Court will decide whether the recoverability of additional liabilities under the Access to Justice Act 1999 infringed Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights and/or Article 1 of the First Protocol to the Convention. The case now has eight interveners and 23 advocates in all.

The ACL, who will be represented by Roger Mallalieu of 4 New Square, is taking a neutral/advisory role to ensure that arguments on both sides are based on an accurate and complete view of how the system worked pre April 2013. Chairman of the ACL, Sue Nash, had this to say about the ACL's role.
