** Important & Positive News for Devon Schools **
Government Announcement on School Funding by David Laws MP
Click here to read more on the announcement last week regarding increased funding for Devon Schools.
The DfE has launched a consultation on "Fairer Schools Funding in 2015-16" seeking views on how the proposed additional funding is allocated in 2015-16 to the least fairly funded local authorities.  We would urge all schools to read the consultation document and submit responses before 30th April 2014 noting that it is likely that the Local Authority will be considering a "Devon" response along with input from the school phase association representatives on Devon Education Forum and Schools' Finance Group which schools may wish to consider as a basis for their own response.

Co-commissioning of Tier 2 Mental Health Service
Following Ofsted's judgement of Devon's safeguarding services, a gap analysis of Early Help services has indicated that there is a lack of tier 2 services for children and young people's mental health and wellbeing.
Public Health and Education representatives have met to begin the process of scoping a new co-commissioned, education and public health service to meet the needs of children and young people with mental health issues.  GPs aim to meet representatives of local learning communities to discuss existing need, existing resources and to begin mapping a comprehensive service specification.
It is proposed that all Year 6, 8 and 10 pupils undertake an on-line questionnaire about health issues. This will provide a baseline on the state of mental health in order to assess the impact of the service going forward.
DAPH will keep members updated on developments.
