Primary Assessment and Accountability
The Department for Education has recently published the final version of the "core principles to underpin effective assessment systems within schools". 
As the document states:
"Schools will be expected to demonstrate (with evidence) their assessment of pupils' progress, to keep parents informed, to enable governors to make judgements about the school's effectiveness and to inform Ofsted inspections".   Read more ...
Fairer Schools Funding 2015-2016 Consultation
A reminder that the consultation closes this Wednesday 30 April 2014.  DAPH would urge all schools to take part in the consultation.  Click here to view a copy of the response submitted by Devon County Council.
Parliamentary debate on Fair Funding for Schools
Click here to access f40's current Briefing Paper prepared for MPs representing f40 areas (including Devon) and who might be contributing to the Westminster Hall debate in Parliament at 9.30am tomorrow (Tuesday 29 April).  This 90-minute debate entitled "Fair Schools Funding and the f40 Campaign" will be broadcast live on Parliament TV (click on this link and then the name of the debate under "Westminster Hall") starting at 9.30am tomorrow.

Early Help Goes Live
From 22 April 2014 Devon Assessment Framework (DAF) replaces the Common Assessment Framework for all new Early Help Assessments.  Read more on the transition from CAF to DAF and establishment of the Early Help Co-ordination Centre.
New Structure for Children's Social Care Team
The new children's social care structures outline the service changes, and the different areas of responsibility under Fiona Fitzpatrick - Head of Children's Social Work Service and Child Protection (interim).   Details of Social Workers and contact details can be found here.

SEND Pathfinder Information Packs
The latest versions of the information packs on the key thematic areas of the 0-25 SEND reforms have now been published.  They draw together some useful resources to help with implementation of SEND reforms - which need to be in place by September 2014 as outlined within the Children and Families Act (2014).
Element 3 Top-Up Funding in Mainstream Schools
Devon County Council has issued guidance on the new process for allocation of resources for additional education funding in mainstream schools.  This process has been operational from 1st April 2014.
Information Events for Families of Children with Additional Needs
Parent Carer Voice will be holding free Conversation Events for families of children with additional needs, entitled 'SEN: How to make the changes positive for you and your child.'  Read more ...

Access to DAPH Update
Thank you to those schools that have reported issues with opening the DAPH Update – either the email sent by DAPH using Newzapp or links within the DAPH Update itself.
SWGfL has been running some diagnostic tests and report that changes to proxy settings will allow access to the DAPH Update.  Changing proxy settings should provide a temporary solution to this issue, until a permanent solution is provided.
