EVENT DETAILS

We are delighted to host the already legendary Frank Cornelissen of Mt.Etna for a doubtlessly special wine event: we advise all curious parties to buy their tickets as soon as. Frank has, since 2001, made red wines with the greatest length and minerality in the wine world - with ever increasing finesse, fruit and precision. For this, and his uncompromising stance on not using any chemicals and additives, he has earned a phenomenal number of column inches both in the wine world and beyond. Dr.Jamie Goode of wineanorak.com is virtually synonymous with Frank, having featured him in two of his books and three write-ups. Matt Kramer of The Wine Spectator chose to launch his blog with Frank, calling his top wine not just ´great´ but doubly great (!) Alder Yarrow, now of jancisrobinson.com, wrote a stupendous piece just prior to arriving. Tom Cannavan of wine-pages.com named him red winemaker of the year 2011. Yes, of the world. And, Monica Larner, now of erobertparker.com has followed for years already.

The focus of the dinner will be the Munjebel Rosso series of old-vine Nerello Mascalese grown at mid to high altitude on the North slopes of Mt.Etna from old dry-farmed and often ungrafted vines. We will also be serving the 2011 Magma - made from vines dating back to 1910.

Frank joins us fresh from the Institute of Masters of Wine 2014 Symposium where he is a panelist on the topic ´A New World of Wine´ and from Isabelle Legeron MW´s RAWFair.com. His unique inclusion in both events is testament to his worldview of quality combined with purity: good for the taste buds, the mind and soul, if you like.

A word to the curious who are straight onto Google already: people who criticize the wines are talking about ´Frank´s (early) Wild Years´, the legacy of said years, or, are simply not quite up to speed...
