YBDSA Newsletter Summer Issue
Summer  2013

Welcome to the
Summer 2013 Issue

The season is well under way and we are all busy. The Seawork Exhibition is just around the corner and we will be on stand SB105. Come and see us and use the stand as a meeting place with other Members. The Small Craft Surveyors Seminar is filling up – get your booking in as soon as you can.

The recent RIB accident in Cornwall caused us all to stop and think – the message to everyone is to ensure they both wear their kill cord and do so correctly. A tragic accident highlights the importance and we are providing stickers for Members to give to clients with small powerboats to stick by their ignition. These will also be available on the stand at Seawork.

The ABYA conference on Tuesday 12 June was successful with presentations from HMRC on that perennial subject – VAT!  Patricia Slavin from Affinity Yacht Management in the Isle of Man also looked at VAT from the point of view of offshore companies, Alasdair Reay from HPI talked us through changes to the RCD and the Design Council looked at brand awareness and using your logo (what do I keep telling you all…) as well as a scheme to assist with design.

Best wishes for a profitable summer season,
Jane Gentry,
